Quality Process

Quality is an important issue for McJunkin Corporation. McJunkin’s comprehensive Quality Program for products has three main components: Supplier Registration; Product Quality Check; and Lifecycle Process.

Our Supplier Registration Process is unmatched in our industry, ensuring we represent and distribute products from the best manufacturers in the world. McJunkin’s dedicated, in-house, ISO-certified Quality Audit team performs 25-30 manufacturer site audits annually, both domestic & international.

The Product Quality Check Process is based on regularly monitoring and testing the products on our shelves before they go to the customer to ensure they meet the standards to which they were manufactured. Material is selected randomly using a statistical sampling method and put through a material inspection process, including Postive Material Identification (PMI), visual examination, dimensional comparison, and destructive testing to ensure that chemical & mechanical properties comply with the applicable manufacturing specifications.

The Lifecycle Analysis Process includes tracking the conformance of our products and responding quickly to issues that may emerge. McJunkin’s process seeks to address issues as they occur and ensure rapid response, while identifying possible solutions to prevent a recurrence in the future.

While the steps taken to ensure quality products are unmatched in our industry, McJunkin’s quality process is much more far-reaching than just product quality. Our quality program incorporates all McJunkin’s business processes into the fabric of our culture. Our Quality Policy Manual (QPM) was developed to meet the requirements of ISO 9002 and to provide associates with written procedures and instructions to support the corporate quality mission, and contain detailed step-by-step instructions on how to perform a specific task and written so that any employee qualified to perform that task understands them.

Additionally, we have successfully integrated our Quality Process with many of our customers' quality processes and McJunkin continues to measure OTD, supplier performance, nonconforming material reporting, customer complaints, and Hub and Spoke errors.
